There she is, he thought immediately. He saw the way she froze in place, listened to how her voice shook–– A small smirk crossed his lips, as he took his hand off of her head and stood up straight. That was all he needed to see, he still had a hold on her, and that made him laugh internally. There were just some things you couldn’t erase.
❝ Hm, you sure sound like you believe that. ❞
He said sarcastically, turning to walk away. There was nothing more he needed to do to her at the moment. The time just wasn’t right yet.
❝ Remember Kyouka, things born in darkness need darkness to survive. The light will eventually blind you. ❞
◣ ✿ ◥ She wished the hand removing itself from her head brought relief, but it didn’t; instead, it filled her with a different kind of dread, one of abandonment rather than fear. But she wanted him to leave her alone–so why? Her emotions had been a whirlwind even before seeing him. It’d be best to avoid thinking about conflicting feelings until after she calmed down, surely.
She did believe it. She didn’t need to kill to have value. Atsushi and the agency were right about that. Despite that, she couldn’t bring herself to contradict his sarcastic reply, and she couldn’t come up with anything against the unwelcome reminder. Both were drilled deep into her subconscious–she had yet to remove those ideas completely, and perhaps she never would–and being faced with the source only threw her off more.
“Did you know?” she called out before he walked off. Somehow, in some part of her mind she kept buried, she didn’t want him to leave. “I didn’t kill them. My parents. It wasn’t me.” Whether that made the situation better or worse was up for debate. Demon Snow was still the culprit even if under another’s control, and Kyouka still possessed it.
